African Movie Channel debuts on Connected Freeview

Nollywood broadcaster African Movie Channel (AMC) has launched its flagship offering, also called African Movie Channel on the Freeview digital-terrestrial platform in the UK.

African Movie Channel will be available on connected Freeview boxes and TVs via Channelbox on Freeview Channel 271, makes African Movie Channel the first Nollywood channel to be distributed on Freeview.

Connected Freeview is available in more than 13 million households in the UK.

AMC is a premium 24-hour African movie channel, showcasing its own original and exclusive movies directly from its production division, AMC Original Productions, as well as other movies.

AMC, together with its second premium channel, AMC Series offer a selection of African movies, TV series, reality productions, talk shows, magazine shows and other short-form content, to an audience across sub-Saharan Africa.

Yinka Mayungbo, AMC’s founding director said: “We launched the first ever Nollywood channel in Europe in 2006. Fourteen years later, we are back – in time for Lockdown 3! Here’s wishing our audience in Blighty good cheer, and a brilliant time watching their favourite Nollywood stars on AMC.”
